The rod and reproof give wisdom But a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.įoolishness is bound up in the heart of a child But the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. Whoso loveth correction loveth knowledge But he that hateth reproof is brutish.Ī fool despiseth his father’s correction But he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence.įathers, provoke not your children, that they be not discouraged.Ĭhasten thy son, seeing there is hope nd set not thy heart on his destruction. All chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness. He is in the way of life that heedeth correction But he that forsaketh reproof erreth.Ī wise son heareth his father’s instruction But a scoffer heareth not rebuke.įurthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed good to them but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. Remember, understanding the Bible is by God’s Spirit who teaches us and through faith. Come with a reverent attitude because it is God’s Word after all (Psa. ![]() And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening and admonition of the Lord. Start your Bible study with prayer, asking that God would help you and illumine your mind during the time of digging into the Word. Honor thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise), that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, And forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be a chaplet of grace unto thy head, And chains about thy neck.Ĭhildren, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it.Īnd these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. He that spareth his rod hateth his son But he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
